The Nintendo Switch lite, lying on a couch

Via Nintendo

Newsbrief: Nintendo's original Switch console finally has a sunset window in Europe. According to Nintendo's official site (via Wario64), Nintendo will stop selling original Switch units to retailers in mid-February 2027. The hardware will cease availability on the Nintendo store at that time.

New regulations in the territory—requiring consumer electronics to have replaceable batteries—have prompted Nintendo to prepare a new line of Switch 2 hardware for European players, and likely prompted the sunsetting of the older console.
