Picture this, sitting in front of a panel of seasoned pros for a TCS Prime interview, your palms sweating, your brain rewinding every tutorial you ever watched, bracing yourself to get barbecued on Data Structures and Algorithms.

My interview lasted a solid 45 to 50 minutes. Did I sweat a little? Did I survive? Oh, I more than survived. I turned a full-on boss battle into a chill chat with an uncle figure. Here is the slightly chaotic, totally unscripted story of how it went down.

1. The HR Round: Flexing Trivia and Surviving the Vibe Check

The whole thing kicked off with the HR round. They were super friendly, tossing out the usual warm-up questions. Are you cool with relocation? How do you feel about night shifts?

Then came the classic:** What do you know about TCS?**
Instead of giving some boring textbook answer, my brain decided to speedrun a corporate trivia championship. I dropped the mic. Well, it is a global giant operating in 55 countries, pulled in roughly 723 crore this past Q723, led by the CEO, headquartered in the main city, and founded back then. I even threw in a public announcement about a future project they are cooking up. HR looked like they were not expecting a walking Wikipedia entry, but hey, points secured.

2. Technical and Managerial: Stepping Into the Arena

Once the tech and managerial panel took over, it was go time. They asked for an intro, which was my cue to immediately hijack the steering wheel.

Instead of waiting for them to cross-examine me, I dove headfirst into my projects:

  • Named my machine learning model proudly.
  • Explained our security setup using JWT and bcrypt.
  • Flexed Socket.io because who does not love real-time data wizardry?

Here is where things get spicy. I knew other candidates were getting absolutely cooked with brutal DSA questions they could not crack. I wanted none of that smoke.

So, what did I do? I manipulated the conversation. I casually dragged them away from standard coding puzzles and lured them right into my playground: Machine Learning and full-stack architecture.

It was my ultimate domain-expansion moment. I hooked them onto my project details, made it engaging, and flipped a literal hell-mode interview straight into easy mode. I won the room right there.

4. Anime, Awkward CGPA, and Uncle Vibes

With the technical terror out of the way, the panel actually wanted to know the human behind the keyboard:

-** The CGPA Plot Twist**: They looked at my transcripts and noticed my CGPA started on the lower side. I just smiled through the pain and explained how it has been on a steady upward climb ever since. Crisis averted.

  • The "I Hate Math" Confession: When they asked what subjects I liked outside of CS, like math, physics, or chemistry, I straight-up told them I genuinely despise those subjects. To save myself from sounding like a total menace, I pivoted to writing tech blogs. Smooth recovery, absolutely.
  • Manga, Anime, and Dad Jokes: When hobbies came up, I casually confessed that I read manga and watch anime. Yes, it was funny admitting that in a high-stakes corporate interview, but they rolled with it.

The best part? The panel was so sweet and knowledgeable that half an hour in, I forgot I was even being interviewed. It genuinely felt like I was sitting in a living room, talking to an uncle or a fatherly friend who was just curious about what I build for fun. Total comfort zone.

Final Thoughts

Whatever the final results turn out to be, living through a real-time, high-pressure interview hits completely different than any mock run or college prep session.

If there is one sloppy, beautiful lesson I learned, it is this: If you don’t know the game they are playing, change the board to your favorite game. Now, we wait for the results, fingers crossed!
