Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has sold 3.5 million copies worldwide to exceed the annual expectations of publisher Ubisoft within two weeks.

The company shared the milestone during its Q1 fiscal report, where it noted that net bookings fell by 9 percent year-on-year to €256 million ($291 million) during the first quarter. Despite that downturn, Ubisoft said net bookings were slightly above guidance thanks to the "record performance" of mobile RPG, Invincible: Guarding the Globe, which launched back in 2024.

Q1 back-catalog bookings totaled €221 million, down 15 percent year-on-year. Ubisoft said that decrease mainly reflected the loss of bookings from Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the prior-year quarter, following its release on March 20, 2025.

"We delivered first-quarter net bookings slightly above guidance. This performance was led by a record contribution from Invincible: Guarding the Globe while the rest of our portfolio, including Rainbow Six Siege, performed in line with our expectations," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

"We also continued to execute our transformation. This included further targeted rightsizing actions and the ongoing re-concentration of resources towards our highest-potential opportunities. At the same time, the leadership of our new operating model and organization continues to take shape, including the appointment of Christoph Hartmann to lead Creative House 2 in building a world-class portfolio of battlefield-driven experiences."

As noted by Guillemot, Ubisoft is in the midst of a colossal rightsizing that has resulted in the closure of multiple studios, including those in Winnipeg and Belgrade. Layoffs are also being proposed within Ubisoft's global publishing division and its studio in Barcelona.

Looking ahead, Ubisoft expects to deliver a "significantly stronger and diversified pipeline of content" over the next two fiscal years (FY2027-28 and FY2028-29) supported by the release of new entries in major franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Ghost Recon. The French company is also forecasting more returns from its live service efforts driven by Rainbow Six Siege.
